Scout bags are one of the latest styles that you are starting to see in retail. Price on this brand ranges from $25 to $60.  We are finding that while they are more expensive, the overall design and perceived value is on the top of most designer womens list of core accessories.

For many of our customers, we will simply add a client branded luggage tag to the item.

I find bags are similar to tee shirts, in that 70% of the decision to buy a tee shirt is based on the art or graphics. 20% is based on quality and 10% is based on price. They really do offer a number of options.

If you are looking for something similar, except at a lower price, you might consider the Key West line of bags.

With pricing falling ion the $30 range, with your logo embroidered on it, this makes for the next best substitute for Scout.

Every year we have a universe full of custom logo apparel that floods the market before golf season. There are constantly new product launches as well as closeouts and discontinued items.
Professional Gifting has recently contracted with Callaway Golf and will be distributing their apparel line and their bag, or soft goods line.

In describing the Callaway line, I would say that the overall designs are straight forward and probably on the conservative side in color. The quality however is rock solid and Nordstrom quality. Here are a few of our favorites.

When it comes to basics, Every guy needs a couple of mock turtlenecks. What makes this one so cool is the micro pique finish. it is also a nice light weight. I have not worn it a number of times yet to see how well the neck holds up, but I am sure it will get worn 25 times or more this year.

Callaway offers 3 garments that are priced in the $30 – $40 range. The entry level  Classic Pique comes in a number of great colors.  It retails at $38 blank. There’s even a companion style for ladies!

The two below don’t really impress me… However the ladies is rock solid!  I especially like the Callaway logo on the bottom shirt tail.

Here is another one of my favorites. The color selection is bold and it’s available in mens and ladies sizes. Retail price is $45 and we will offer a $10 discount per shirt with your 24 piece order, with mention of this post. Embroidery is included.

As we move up the line, The mens and ladies Dry Solid Polo rocks!!! This 4.75 ounce 100% polyester, moisture wicking fabric feels great.  The open cuff sleeves add to the luxury look. Retails at $59 each with discounts also available to existing customers.

During our trip to Las Vegas, we added the Tommy Bahama line of apparel to our product offering. Tommy Bahama is a brand that is recognized by executives throughout the USA for their high quality.

Tommy Bahama shirts have always been recognized for their full back embroidery designs, which are still available to you in limited designs.

One of the latest technologies that has come to life in the apparel industry is a process called “Direct to Print”. This is the equivalent of sticking your shirt into your ink jet printer at home. Of course, these are printers designed especially for apparel and the inks used are all geared for clothing. Trust me, you can not print a word document with this.

As a special offering for the month of February 2010, we are offering samples of the Tommy Bahama, silk camp shirt, with your full 4 color process graphic for $95. This includes a typical $75 setup charge. Normal minimum order is 24 pieces. Be sure to send your artwork at 300 DPI, to size. We prefer an EPS file for Adobe, CS3 or less.

After a number of meetings with company representatives, Professional Gifting Incorporated is now an official reseller of Under Armour Apparel.

Under Armour is becoming one of the most asked about clothing lines from our corporate clients. Customers are starting to ask themselves, does it make more sense to give a higher quality garment to fewer people? How can I get my target audience to wear my logo more frequently?

While bringing UA on board is a big win for us, ordering is not quite as easy as with a number of other brands. Here’s why…

• There is no dedicated stock for corporate markets. This means that they are more likely to be out of stock on some items which could make it difficult for us to offer product in long term programs.
• Under Armour’s largest customer is the US Military. They get first take on all products.
• The product can never be discounted.
• Delivery times will range from 2-4 weeks.

Where do we see the majority of sales coming from?

• High Schools: While we do a lot of sport uniform sales, almost every student wears UA underneath.
• Construction: Anyone who has an outdoor work force.
• Emergency Personnel:  Under Armour is one of the few suppliers for Flame Retardant gear.
• Golf Shirts: Their moisture management fabrics are second to none.
• Corporate Wellness Programs: Corporations offer incentives for their staff to lose weight and stay fit. Give an Under Armour piece of apparel for every time an associate visits the gym for at least 45 minutes, 35 times per quarter.

While there are a few down sides to the distribution of the brand, a nice benefit is that we have access to their full line of apparel and gear. This includes hats, caps, under garments, footwear, etc. They are one of the only companies that makes a satin lined fleece beanie cap too.

Under Armour is certainly not the right product for every apparel need, but if your target audience is mostly athletic, your organization will be the bomb!!!

A new client came to us needing  tee shirts in-hands within 4 days and they wanted to use a rock and roll theme. They told us that they wanted to do something similar to the drawing below… except they wanted it to look better.

We shared this drawing with our artist on Monday morning.  Within 3 hours we had created and approved the art below.

These will be printed on a Beefy Tee tee shirt using “DISCHARGE INK”. Discharge ink actually takes the dye out of the existing garment and gives it a grayish, vintage look.  The biggest advantage to discharge ink is that it does not use ink at all. It is a chemical that removes the dye from the shirt leaving a soft feeling or soft hand where the ink would have been. If we would have printed in light gray or white, we would have first had to put down a base coat, flash the item and then print over it again. This leaves a thick, rubber like feeling on the shirt. If it is a large design and uses a whole lot of ink, you can end up with a problem called Armour Plating. This is when you start getting warm and it feels like there is an armour plate on your chest.

By using an upgraded shirt, this garment was done for under $20 each, including all artwork and setup charges in 4 working days.  We could have done a cheap shirt with poor artwork for $11 each and it would most likely never been worn again.

When ”The Game’s” national representative called on PGI to carry their line, we felt like we already had plenty of hat suppliers to share with our customers. Little did we know the high level of quality they were about to show us.

Upon traveling to a few customers with the rep, we found that not only was the brand name well recognized, but the client wanted to place an order immediately. Upon receipt of the pre production sample, I believed that this was the nicest hat I have ever produced after 19 years in the business.

After further study, we found that “The Game” was licenced and was currently producing hats for over 1890 different schools and colleges around the country. In fact, if you are a corporate hat buyer, they will send you a free sample (you provide a shipper number) of your alma mater as a test hat. Be sure to first check their licence list.

Minimum order for a totally custom hat is 72 pieces, with an average price of $13 each.  At 288 caps, the price falls more into the $8-$9 range. The USC book store retails these for almost $17. Kent State and Fandome retail them for almost $20 and Pebble Beach retails their hat at $34. If you are looking for a domestic made “Game” cap, there is no minimum order.

We offer a number of embroidered hats that go down as low as $3 each in larger quantities. These hats are great for mass promotions.  But if you are looking to impress clients at your next golf outing, switch over to The Game and you will see your hat being worn after your event much more.

I first came across the brand while traveling to California and Arizona in 2001.  While the shirts had a sleek, fashionable design, they were priced in the $80+ range. Certainly out of my budget. Over the years the price has stayed the same in retail, but has come down in corporate markets.
